Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT):

The purpose of MPPT is to extract the maximum power level that the solar array can generate at the available irradiance level. MPPT ensures that the motor operates at maximum power.

The ECODRIVE designed by Zener incorporates a unique MPPT tracker, which achieves the true "maximum power point" of the solar panel array by directly integrating control of motor power and photovoltaic array voltage, thereby maximizing the efficiency of the solar panel array.

The ECODRIVE has the ability to measure extremely small power variations, ensuring that the system can continuously operate within 0.2% of the true "maximum power point," regardless of system load or temperature. This ensures that maximum power is available and maximizes operational time throughout the day, adapting to varying levels of irradiance.

The power and voltage of the solar array are dynamic, with performance significantly affected by temperature changes.

ECODRIVE®It is also dynamic and can automatically detect and respond to these changes. ECODRIVE quickly responds to any changes in irradiance without interrupting motor control. Typically, the dynamic response time to changes in irradiance is less than 200ms.

A complete system:

ECODRIVE®It is a complete system, with a built-in "maximum power point" tracking controller in the variable speed drive, allowing full control of the motor to maximize the benefits of solar power generation.

ECODRIVE®Designed to be a unique solar pump controller (exclusive to solar energy). It does not require irradiance sensors when operating on solar energy. By inputting simple photovoltaic data, ECODRIVE knows when there is sufficient solar power to operate®.

ECODRIVE can continue operating on auxiliary AC power when solar power is insufficient. This configuration allows for a smooth transition from solar power to AC power. When connected to auxiliary AC power, the solar array remains connected, forming a dual-power system. This means that solar power continues to provide energy to the system®.

ECODRIVE®This functionality can be achieved with minimal additional control. Only the auxiliary AC power source requires the use of irradiance sensors to monitor available solar power and control when connected to the auxiliary power source.

Robust IP66 enclosure:

Sturdy powder-coated steel enclosure to prevent mechanical damage. The electronic equipment is fully enclosed within an IP66-rated enclosure, preventing dust and water ingress. The heatsink has separate cooling channels to provide maximum heat dissipation. No filters are needed, eliminating the need for regular maintenance. Stainless steel casing is also available.

Simple menu and settings:

Because solar pump systems are mostly deployed in remote areas, on-site installation and debugging are relatively challenging. Considering this situation, ECODRIVE is designed to be easy to install, with simple and intuitive menu settings. The built-in application menu can adapt to most application scenarios, and the default settings of the built-in applications are sufficient for operation®.

Reduce startup current:

The issue with starting a solar-powered generator is the current required to start the motor. The motor starting current can be 600-800% of the motor's full-load current. ECODRIVE addresses this issue by reducing the motor's starting current to below 100%-110% of its level.®ECODRIVE can provide full-speed full-torque®.

● Power supply options:

ECODRIVE®● It can be configured to operate with multiple power sources.

● Independent operation with AC power (as a standard variable frequency drive).

● Independent operation with solar power (DC power).

● Optional auxiliary AC power

(208-240V or 380 - 480VAC, single-phase or three-phase AC power).

● Compatible with 480VAC SWER line power supply.

● Suitable for generator power supply.

Standard AC operation:

ECODRIVE®Can operate as a standard frequency converter for all types of loads or applications with standard three-phase motors.

The AC power source can be:

● Grid power: 380-480VAC 3-phase or 480V single wire ground return (SWER).

● Power supply: 208-240VAC 3-phase, including 240V single-phase power supply.

● Generator powered.

Stand-alone solar operation:

ECODRIVE®The design is to operate independently from the DC power supply of the "solar array".®ECODRIVE will automatically control the pump for maximum pump run time and power provided by the solar array. ECODRIVE can drive the water pump only when the solar power is sufficient and relevant protection is set up to prevent damage caused by the pump running at low speed. Standalone solar operation requires no irradiance sensors, simplifying installation and setup®.

Blocking diode:

When operating "stand-alone solar operation", it is also recommended to use blocking diodes when multiple solar arrays are connected in parallel.

Hybrid system:

Designs that "hybrid" solar power using auxiliary AC power also allow the system to use auxiliary AC power during periods of insufficient solar power.

ECODRIVE®ECODRIVE enables automatic pump control to achieve maximum pump runtime and make full use of the power provided by the solar array.®However, if solar power is insufficient, ECODRIVE will automatically connect to AC power.®When enough solar power is available, the ECODRIVE will automatically switch back to solar operation®.

Always connect DC power from the solar array using 吉納's impedance diodes.

When auxiliary AC power is switched, it allows the solar array to be "mixed" with AC power to get the most from your solar investment®.

Blocking diode:

When using auxiliary AC power, it is installed on each series array of solar cells.

The use of blocking diodes is also recommended in multi-series arrays when operating "solar only".

Automatically connect auxiliary AC power:

ECODRIVE®It can monitor the available solar power generation and provide output according to "maximum power point tracking". When the solar power generation reaches "LO SOLAR", that is, it reaches the internal preset value, it will automatically connect to the AC power supply after the delay time set by the program.

Time delays and other logic are used to provide the desired AC control.

Generator operation and control:

The "24VDC control power option" can provide control power to ECODRIVE through an independent 24VDC power supply, which can be a battery with a solar charging circuit. This power supply can also be used for generator starting. ECODRIVE®Has internal functions, timers and relays.

Can be used to pre-start the generator and connect AC power. When operating on generator power, a DC link reactor must be used.

Control options:

ECODRIVE®is a fully integrated system that can be operated directly from the solar array. Integrated solar DC tracking ensures optimal pump control from available solar power. There is a standard "Application Menu" making setup or programming to suit individual needs quick and easy.

● Standard VSD operation.

● Standard application: canning.

● Standard application: pressure control.

● Flexible and customized solutions.

A dedicated "Application Menu" can be developed for your particular application.

Contact 吉納 to discuss the possibilities.

ECODRIVE®It also offers great flexibility in modifying the way it operates.

Standard Application 1: Can Filling

When sufficient solar energy is available, the ECODRIVE can be configured to pump to fill water towers or containers. AC power can also be used for pumping when solar power is insufficient®.

A primary level switch is installed in the tower to provide feedback to ECODRIVE.®When the water level is below the set value and there is sufficient solar power, ECODRIVE will automatically start the pump.®ECODRIVE will run the pump at a speed determined by the available solar power or at the desired speed.®When the water level is above the float switch level, ECODRIVE will continue to run the pump for a preset time and then shut down the pump. The liquid level switch is installed below the allowable high water level and reserves a margin for pumping within a limited time. This approach means the tower is always full, rather than having a low-level switch to turn on the pump when no solar energy is available. If preferred, a two-stage switch can be used®.

If a liquid level switch is not used, pressure can be used to control the liquid level.

This requires the use of an external pressure switch or pressure sensor.

This eliminates the need for wires to the water tower.

Standard Application 2: Pressure Control

ECODRIVE®Can be configured to provide constant voltage control using built-in PID.

ECODRIVE monitors pressure and adjusts motor/pump speed to achieve set pressure.

ECODRIVE®When solar power is sufficient, the water pump will be controlled to reach constant pressure at the required speed. If solar power generation is insufficient to maintain that pressure, the system can be configured to operate at a lower pressure, shut down, or switch to auxiliary AC power.®When there is enough solar energy, ECODRIVE will restart and automatically restart the water pump.

Equipped with an option board, the ECODRIVE can provide 24VDC DC link power to the pressure sensor.®Additional protection against borehole fluid levels, no flow or external overpressure is also available.

To operate standard motors and pumps:

ECODRIVE®Can be used with any standard three-phase induction motor or motor-pump combination, such as borehole pumps or submersible pumps.

While water pumps are probably the most common type of load in solar operation, ECODRIVE can be used in any type of application: fans, conveyors, augers or other types of loads®.

Special output filter:

The pumps produced by some borehole water pump manufacturers have certain requirements and require special output filters.

吉納 can supply a filter that ensures compliance with its requirements and eliminates the need for shielded motor cables. Gena can also help, providing solutions to reduce harmonic or radio frequency interference.

Irradiance sensor:

When using AC auxiliary power, an irradiance sensor is required to provide feedback on available solar power generation. The irradiance sensor is optional for Solar-only installations but provides more accurate control. The irradiance sensor must be mounted on the same plane as the solar panel.®The irradiance sensor provides a 0-5VDC signal to the ECODRIVE.

Lightning/Surge Protection:

Depending on the installation, the solar array and ECODRIVE may require lightning or surge protection.

Solar Array

Photovoltaic array selection:

Key factors to consider when selecting a photovoltaic array are:

◎ The correct number of PV modules are connected in series (called a "string") to achieve the required DC voltage.

Also, it is to be within the rating of the ECODRIVE®.

◎The correct number of "strings" in parallel to achieve the required current and/or power for the minimum irradiance level.

This will affect how many hours per day you can pump or the irradiance required to actually pump.

The actual location and pumping requirements in summer and winter must be considered so that different irradiances can be achieved.

◎When choosing the best photovoltaic array configuration, you may also need to consider the size of the motor and pump.
